Raising Kids God's Way
Location: Room #2 (downstairs)
Facilitator: Brenda and Rob Taylor
Description: Christian parents face just as may obstacles as non-Christians in raising kids. When you add all the distractions and the pressures in today's world, Christian parenting becomes even more of a challenge.

A huge part of that challenge is passing on your faith to kids whose priorities are more focused on video games, sporting events, and the latest trends in clothes. And let's not foreget to mention peer pressure and media pressure that offers temptations to kids to do drugs, drink alcohol and get involved sexually. Today's kids face an overall absence of godly examples and moral living in a society that is moving toward "freedom from religion" instead of "freedom of religion." Learn together how to raise kids God's way.

The Gospel of John
Location: Room #201 (Upstairs)
Teacher: Larry Oline
Description: The Gospel of John is one of four gospels in the Holy Bible and is the fourth book in chronological order presented in the New Testament. The Gospel of John is a unique perspective of the life of Jesus Christ. It varies from the other three gospels of Matthew, Mark, and luke (also known as the synoptic gospels), by focusing more on spiritual themes rather than historical events. The author of this gospel was the disciple John, one of the twelve disciples that followed Jesus Christ during his earthly ministry. The author identifies himself in the last chapter of the gospel: "This is the disciple whom Jesus loved." Come join us as we directly explore the word of God and the love of His Son.

Friendship Class

Location: Boswell Room
Facilitator: Thomas Smith
Description: The Friendship Class will study Covenant Communities, the Fall curriculum of The Present Word. The lessons examine Israelite leaders God chose to be in covenant with him (Joshua, Gideon, Ezra, and Nehemiah); how Jesus, in the book of Mark, wanted people to live in covenant with him; and, what qualities God's people should have, using 1st and 2nd Peter.

Is God Missing From U.S. History?

Description: Get ready for a new installment of Drive Through History! Starting off with the European discovery of America, host Dave Scotts will bring you Columbus' birthplace in Italy and his launching point in Spain before moving to another famous colonizer of the New World. Set off to Scrooby, England, and follow the footsteps of the Pilgrims' trek to America. Finally, discover the beginnings of the Revolutionary War as you tour the famous sites of Boston, Lexington and Concord. Filled with Dave's trademark humor, history comes alive with zest and an integrated Christian Worldview.

Youth Sunday School Classes

YouthMiddle School
Jason Cook and his wife Christine teach a "laid back, up-tempo" class for students in 6th through 8th grades. They aim for a comfortable place to learn about Jesus and the Christian life together and enjoy games of ping pong and fun conversation. They use the curriculum 144 Talks for Totally Awesome Kids by Chris Chesterton and David T. Ward. They also use pictures and illustrations from the companion website www.77talks.co.uk. The groups works closely with the high school group.

High School
Barb Gonzalez leads the high schoolers in a class called "Hot Topics." Discussion on topics which matter to this age group - culture, death, peer pressure, parents, conflict, how to view people, heaven and hell, etc. - and looking into the Scriptures to see what the Bible says. The curriculum is Youth Specialties High School Talk Sheets by David Lynn, published by Zondervan. The goal is to get kids talking and thinking about the Bible and Christian principles that affect their lives.
