Outreach and Missions Pasadena Presbyterian Church Kenya Mission: Update #5 Our time a Kijabe Hospital is rapidly evaporating. It seems like we only arrived yesterday. I continue to serve as a mentor for the eight KRNA students, and we have established a teaching routine. Dan and I have been helping look after a guy in the ICU with a very serious inection. His name is George and he is the local Kijabe dentist. He isn't really a DDS. Someone trained him to pull teeth many years ago and he just kept on doing it. He is on antibiotics, but it is likely he will not make it. His family and friends not only visit him, they also participate and help with his care. In the US, he would have a much better chance and would be on a zillion dollars worth of the latest antibiotics. Please pray for him. Evangelism is rampant here. There is a full missionary staff that ministers to the patients and their families. This includes instruction in the Word of God, prayer support, preachign and outreach. There are indoor and outdoor services. Many of the patients are unchurched and have come form as far away as Somalia. Kenya is apparently the most stable and safe place in this part of Africa, so it is attracting many refugees. I am blessed that you sent me to be a part of the hospital staff that attracts these individuals. As you read this on Sunday, I should be in the air flying to Tampa. I thank you for your continued support and, most importantly, your prayers. I look forward to reporting to you in person. God bless you all. Mike Nahrwold |
